“You knew Hannah lost her mother.”

“Remembering Laura isn’t disrespecting you.”

Then he said:

“You don’t become more important by making Laura less important.”

Nobody spoke.

Hannah looked at her father.

That sentence mattered.

Chloe Finally Spoke

“I am sorry.”

Hannah shook her head.

“You thought Dad agreed.”

“I still should have asked you.”

Hannah didn’t answer.

Chloe continued:

“I wouldn’t want someone wearing something from my dad without asking me.”

That surprised Rebecca.

Chloe looked at her.

“You made this weird.”

“And I’m not wearing the dress.”
