One Year Later
On their first anniversary, Emily and Daniel looked through their wedding album.
When they reached the family photographs, Daniel started laughing.
“What?”
He pointed.
There was Susan.
White dress.
Standing beside Emily.
Emily shook her head.
“Your mother still looks like she’s attending a double wedding.”
Daniel laughed harder.
Then they reached the reception photographs.
There were no pictures of the wine incident.
The photographer had apparently made a very wise professional decision.
Emily was grateful.
The wedding hadn’t been ruined.
But it had taught all of them something.
A boundary can be reasonable.
A response can be understandable.
And still, two people can both be wrong at the same time.
