Sharon asked for a family meeting.

She invited several relatives and told them Adam was refusing to discuss matters reasonably.

Adam agreed to attend at his uncle’s house.

He brought the posts and the donation description.

Sharon began before everyone had sat down.

“I’ve been treated terribly for trying to help.”

Adam waited.

His uncle Martin asked what had happened.

Sharon described the funeral video as a tribute.

Adam placed a printed screenshot on the table.

It showed him blocking the lens.

“I asked her to stop. She followed me with the camera.”

Sharon waved a hand.

“He was overwhelmed.”

“Yes,” Adam said. “I was.”

The room went quiet.

He laid down the fundraiser description next.

“This said donations were needed for final expenses. Those expenses were covered. Neither Mum nor I authorized this.”

Martin read the page.

“What was the money for, Sharon?”

“I had costs too.”

“Then why doesn’t it say that?”

Sharon looked around the table.

“I can’t believe you’re interrogating me.”

June spoke from beside the window.

“We’re asking you to fix what you told people.”

Her mother turned sharply.

“You should be on my side.”

“I wanted to be,” June said. “That’s why I asked you to stop before Adam even noticed.”

Adam had never heard her speak to Sharon that way.

There was no shouting.

That made it harder to dismiss.

Martin asked Sharon to provide the donation records and return the money.

Another relative, who had shared the fundraiser, said she would post a correction.

Sharon tried to return the conversation to her hurt feelings.

Nobody followed her there.

For years, she had been able to make every disagreement about whether the family appreciated her.

This time, the question remained on the table.

Where had the money gone?
